Go ENG Girl Day at the School of Sustainable Design Engineering
Explore the exciting field of engineering! The School of Sustainable Design Engineering at UPEI invites all Grade 7-10 girls and one parent/guardian to Go ENG Girl Day on October 14. Go ENG Girl Day is an exciting opportunity to spend an afternoon learning about the wonderful world of engineering, meeting women currently studying engineering, learning about some of the amazing things women engineers are doing, and participating in cool hands-on activities. We are excited to be one of 20 other Engineering programs at Canadian universities all holding this event together on the same day!

"The School of Sustainable Design Engineering at UPEI is launching its first ProGRES Summer Program to promote engineering research interest and involvement among high school girls. Through the ProGRES Program, high-school girls will have the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research projects with world-class researchers in state-of-the-art facilities. The selected students will work directly with a woman faculty researcher and mentor on an independent research project, and they will have opportunities to meet and work with women engineers and women engineering students.
High school girls going into grades 11 and 12 are encouraged to apply for the ProGRES Summer Program. Please refer to our application instructions for complete program information and application.

Girls Get WISE Science Retreat
Girls in grades 7 to 9 are invited to a science retreat on Friday, April 28 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm This 4th annual Girls Get WISE Science Retreat will give girls a hands-on experience in chemistry, physics, and engineering through fun workshops. Girls will also meet female role models who are working or studying in the science, engineering, and technology fields. These experiences will help girls make informed decisions about subject choices in their later school years.
Girls can register here before April 21. Space is limited. Cost is $10 which includes lunch.Women working in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) who are interested in participating in the lunch-time role model session can contact Megan Glover (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.

Applied Science/Technology Report Annual Contest - 2015
A comprehensive review by the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB) judged each technology report submitted from across the country.
Each of our nationally accredited programs may submit one report for the contest; All Technology reports are judged on originality, complexity, academic rigour, innovation, conclusions and overall presentation format. The finalist were announced following the CTAB Board meeting of October 24, 2015:

Awards and Scholarships
National Achievement Award (Deadline is October 1, 2014)
This Award recognizes individual technicians or technologists. It is presented for outstanding achievement in one of the disciplines of registration in applied science or engineering technology.
For a complete description of guidelines and eligibility, please click here. Finalists are evaluated by the Board of Directors. Recipients receive an individualized CCTT award to honour their achievement and a feature article in the CCTT Newsletter.
Scholarships for Technology Students (Deadline is October 1, 2014)
Each year, Manulife Financial, awards two $1000.00 scholarships to the son or daughter of an inidvidual member. Scholarships assist students with expenses incurred to undertake studies leading to a technician or technologist diploma in a recognized program of study in engineering technology or applied science technology.

International recognition of CTAB accredited programs
CTAB was created in 1982 to respond to the need for a national evaluation system of post-secondary programs. There are currently 252 nationally accredited programs (203 technologist and 49 technician). CCTT/CTAB is a member of the International Engineering Alliance (IEA).
The IEA is a global organization responsible for managing International Agreements such as the Washington Accord (1989) for Engineering, Sydney Accord (2001) for Engineering Technologists and the Dublin Accord (2002) for Engineering Technicians.
Graduates of CTAB programs have international mobility rights under the Sydney & Dublin Accords in various countries such as Australia, Germany, Hong Kong China, Ireland, Korea, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom and the USA.
